Accident – Death – Obituary News :

A Chimacum man, Arnor Steven Aurdal, 66, was arrested for threatening a neighbor with a gun and firing two shots into the ground before being incapacitated by law enforcement using stun guns. The incident occurred on Friday evening, leading to Aurdal facing charges of two counts of reckless endangerment, one count of felony harassment, and one count of first-degree assault.

Aurdal appeared in Jefferson County Superior Court on Monday, where his bail was set at $500,000. Additionally, he was issued a no-contact order for the victim and his wife, restrictions on possessing deadly weapons, including firearms, and an order not to consume any non-prescription drugs or alcohol. His arraignment is scheduled for Friday at 9 a.m.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a disturbance on Beckett Point Road involving a neighbor dispute. Aurdal allegedly brandished a handgun and fired two shots into the ground before leaving in a vehicle with his wife, threatening to return with a shotgun. Deputies stopped the vehicle, conducted a high-risk stop, and eventually used stun guns to apprehend Aurdal.

According to Detective Sgt. Brett Anglin, it took three stun gun applications before Aurdal was successfully taken into custody. The confrontation between Aurdal and the victim was captured on a private security camera attached to a nearby home, allowing deputies to review the footage.

Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Holly McKeen revealed that the dispute between Aurdal and the neighbor stemmed from a boundary line disagreement between their properties. The ongoing conflict between the two neighbours has been ongoing for approximately six years.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office commended the deputies for their handling of the situation, emphasizing the importance of de-escalation tactics in potentially dangerous encounters. Aurdal’s arrest serves as a reminder of the serious consequences of threatening behaviour and the use of firearms in disputes.
