VINTON, Va. (WJET/WFXP) — Pennsylvania State Police have announced the arrest of a suspect in connection with an attempted homicide case that occurred earlier this month.
31-year-old Anthony Martinez Young, a resident of Pleasantville, Pa., was apprehended after allegedly shooting at a Pennsylvania man on May 1 along Shamburg Road in Oil Creek Township, Venango County.
According to reports, a witness observed a gold, four-door 2007 Ford Fusion with tinted windows driving up the road. The witness heard a verbal altercation between one of the neighbors and the driver, later identified as Young.
Young then reportedly approached the victim with a firearm, discharged three rounds, and fled the scene in the vehicle towards State Route 227. Fortunately, none of the shots hit the intended target.
Following the incident, an intensive investigation was launched by the PSP Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) Fugitive Apprehension Unit, in collaboration with members of the United States Marshalls Service (USMS).
After receiving new information, USMS and Virginia State Police successfully located and arrested Young in Vinton around 1 p.m. on May 13.
Currently, Young is being detained at the Roanoke City Jail in Virginia pending extradition to Pennsylvania.
