Accident – Death – Obituary News : The Columbia Basin Investigative Team has recently unveiled body camera footage of a harrowing shooting incident that transpired at the Motel 6 in Moses Lake on the evening of May 4th. Law enforcement officers were called to the scene in response to reports of an assault at the Moses Lake Hotel 6.
As officers approached the room at around 8:20 PM, they encountered a woman inside along with the suspect, identified as 37-year-old Zachary Allen Stockton. Upon notifying Stockton of the reason for their visit, which was related to the reported assault, he admitted to being armed and blatantly disregarded commands issued by the officers.
Despite repeated efforts to persuade Stockton to surrender peacefully, he made the alarming decision to open fire, targeting the officers with multiple shots. In the exchange of gunfire that followed, Stockton sustained a gunshot wound to the hand, while Sgt. Adam Munro was struck in the foot. Fortunately, both individuals escaped with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Washington State Patrol (WSP) and other law enforcement agencies are actively conducting an investigation in collaboration with the Columbia Basin Investigative Team (CBIT). Further details regarding the incident will be disclosed as the investigation progresses. It is important to note that the body camera footage contains explicit language.
A dashcam video captured from one of the police vehicles depicts Stockton standing outside the room, firing at the officers. The included video has been timestamped to commence at the 1:00-minute mark for ease of viewing.
