INDIANAPOLIS — A series of violent incidents in Indianapolis over a 24-hour period resulted in the deaths of three men on Saturday.

The Marion County Coroner’s Office has officially identified the three victims of the homicides.

The first killing occurred outside a residence on the near northeast side of the city.

Shortly after midnight on Saturday, officers from the north district of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to a call about a shooting in the 2900 block of Schofield Avenue.

The 52-year-old victim managed to reach the front door of his home near 30th and Schofield, where he informed his roommate that he had been shot in the chest.

Despite efforts to stem the bleeding, the victim succumbed to his injuries after being transported to the hospital.

Neighbour Richard Mason expressed shock at the incident, stating, “For that to happen to him wasn’t right, because he didn’t bother nobody.”

The victim has been identified as 52-year-old Willie Biles Jr.

Friends of Biles remember him as a devoted father who enjoyed working on cars and assisting those in need.

“He was a cool dude. If you needed something, he would help you. I don’t understand why someone would do something to him,” Mason added.

Since Biles had no significant criminal record or known enemies, those close to him are struggling to comprehend the senseless violence.

Just an hour after Biles’ death, IMPD received a report of another shooting at an apartment complex on the south side of the city. There, they discovered 23-year-old Marcus McGlaughlin dead in the 8300 block of Siear Terrace.

Although two individuals were initially detained for questioning in connection with the incident, they were later released without charges.

Later that evening, police responded to a call at a residence on the near east side of Indianapolis and found 46-year-old Clarence McGee deceased at the scene on Ewing Street.

No information regarding suspects has been released in McGee’s case.

While the circumstances of the three deaths are unrelated, acquaintances of Biles are expressing frustration at the prevalence of gun-related disputes.

“You should be able to resolve conflicts without resorting to violence, but people just do foolish things,” Mason remarked.
