Accident – Death – Obituary News : A man in Bhopal was arrested on suspicion of murdering his live-in partner by attacking her with scissors in Dindori district on Sunday. The tragic incident occurred at the rented house of the deceased, identified as 25-year-old Uma Rathore, in Narmadaganj locality between 8.30 am and 9 am.

According to reports, Uma Rathore was previously married but later decided to live with the accused, Manu Durvasa. The couple resided together for a few years before Uma moved to Dindori and started living alone, working as a seamstress to support herself. Durvasa would occasionally visit her at her new residence.

Sub-divisional officer of police (SDOP) Dindori, KK Tripathi, revealed that the accused had visited Uma’s house on the fateful morning. A neighbour heard noises emanating from the room and rushed to investigate. Upon arrival, the neighbour encountered the accused, who then threatened her to leave. Fearing for her safety, the neighbour alerted other residents who hurried to the scene.

Unfortunately, by the time the neighbours arrived, the accused had already attacked Uma with scissors and fled the scene. The injured woman was rushed to the hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead upon arrival. An investigation has been launched, and the Kotwali police station in-charge, Mohan Dhurvey, confirmed that the suspect, approximately 32 years old, was apprehended in the evening for questioning.

In a recent development, the Delhi High Court ruled that parole cannot be granted based on conjugal relationships, including those with live-in partners. The court emphasized that convicts do not have a fundamental right to a child from a live-in partner, particularly if either party has existing legal spouses.
