Kavshun J. Boykin : “Kavshun Boykin Charged with Murder in Topeka Shooting”

TOPEKA (KSNT) – The Shawnee County District Attorney has officially filed charges against a suspect involved in the shooting and killing of a 22-year-old man at a Topeka apartment complex.

Kavshun J. Boykin, aged 26, is facing four charges following the incident that took place in April. The charges against him include:

• Murder in the first degree with premeditation
• Murder in the first degree with an inherently dangerous felony
• Aggravated burglary of a dwelling
• Criminal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon

The charges stem from the fatal shooting of Cody Cooper, which occurred at the Crown Point Apartments located at 3711 SW Park S Ct. The Topeka Police Department apprehended Boykin on April 26 after connecting him to the incident.

According to Katie Garceran, a spokeswoman for the Shawnee County District Attorney’s Office, the police responded to reports of a shooting at the apartment complex on April 19. Upon arrival, they discovered Cooper deceased in one of the apartments. Through their investigation, Boykin was identified as the suspect and subsequently taken into custody.

Another individual, Lolita L. Bradford, aged 25, was also taken into custody on April 30 in connection to the shooting. She was officially charged on May 7 with murder in the first degree, aggravated burglary of a dwelling, and interference with law enforcement.
