In the early hours of Monday morning, a chaotic scene unfolded in northeast Portland as a driver attempted to evade police, resulting in a crash that left several people injured, according to the Portland Police Bureau.
The incident began when officers observed a vehicle speeding through a parking lot just after midnight. Upon attempting to pull the vehicle over, the driver accelerated at a high velocity, leading to a dangerous pursuit through the city streets.
Moments later, the fleeing driver collided with another vehicle at the intersection of Northeast 122nd Avenue and Northeast Sandy Boulevard. The impact of the crash resulted in three individuals, including the driver who had attempted to evade police, being transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of their injuries.
