HENRY COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Virginia State Police (VSP) reported a fatal crash in Henry County on May 11, resulting in the death of one man and hospitalization of three individuals, including two young children.

The incident occurred at approximately 7:10 p.m. on Joseph Martin Highway near Fisher Farm Road. According to VSP, a 32-year-old man was driving a Dodge Ram eastbound on the highway when the vehicle crossed the center line and collided with a 2005 Nissan.

The driver of the Nissan, identified as 52-year-old Gregory Lee Myers from Martinsville, sustained critical injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Tragically, two young passengers in the Dodge, a 5-year-old girl and a 4-year-old boy, suffered life-threatening injuries in the crash. Both children were airlifted to the hospital for urgent medical care.

Additionally, the driver of the Dodge was also taken to the hospital for evaluation and treatment. At present, the specific conditions of all three hospitalized individuals remain undisclosed.

Virginia State Police confirmed that Myers was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision. However, both toddlers were reportedly secured in car seats, highlighting the importance of proper child safety measures.
