Accident – Death – Obituary News :

A man who allegedly shot at a North Miami Beach officer outside a Kabballah Centre last week has claimed that he has no recollection of the incident, as per an arrest report acquired by Local 10 News on Monday.

The shooting took place on Wednesday morning in the parking lot of the Kabbalah Centre, located in the area of Northeast 27th Avenue and 163rd Street, according to North Miami Beach police.

Fortunately, the officer was unharmed despite the suspect firing shots “at almost point-blank range,” as stated by North Miami Beach police Maj. Juan Pinillos during a news conference.

Evan Polinski, aged 36, the suspect in question, was apprehended after attempting to flee and subsequently crashing his vehicle, police reported.

The officer, who had his police vehicle’s windows slightly open, heard two loud gunshots from his right side, as mentioned in the arrest report. He then observed Polinski standing near a parking space, pointing a gun towards him.

After instructing Polinski to drop his weapon, the officer pursued him as he walked towards his car. However, Polinski disregarded the commands and fled the scene in his car, eventually colliding with another vehicle in the vicinity of Northwest Second Avenue and 167th Street.

Following the crash, Polinski was taken to HCA Florida Aventura Hospital for questioning by detectives. He claimed to have visited Duffy’s to watch a basketball game before heading to Flannigan’s, where he consumed alcohol and ordered food to go. Remarkably, he professed to have no memory of the shooting or subsequent car crash.

Upon being shown surveillance footage of the incident, Polinski requested legal representation, halting the interview. He now faces charges of attempted homicide on a police officer, possession of a controlled substance while armed (suspected cocaine was found in his wallet), DUI, and reckless driving.

Police revealed that Polinski was driving nearly four times over the legal alcohol limit at the time of the ambush. As of Monday morning, he remains in custody at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, awaiting the setting of his bond.
