In a tragic incident on Mother’s Day, a Mississippi man has been accused of killing his mother and two sisters, according to authorities in Ridgeland.
Ridgeland Police Chief Brian Myers stated that officers responded to a call about the triple homicide around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday.
The victims have been identified as 76-year-old Ida Thomas Welch, 56-year-old Vicky Renee Welch, and 42-year-old Crystal Lynn Welch, as reported by WLBT.
Following the incident, an arrest warrant was issued for Ivory James Welch III, and the U.S. Marshals Task Force commenced a search for him.
Authorities revealed that Welch managed to flee to Arizona, where he was eventually located by troopers and killed in a shootout.
Crystal Welch, one of the victims, was a prominent member of the Mississippi ACLU Board of Directors since 2023.
