In a shocking incident on Mother’s Day, a man from RIDGELAND, Mississippi, tragically killed his mother and two sisters, according to authorities. The devastating news was reported by WLBT and confirmed by Ridgeland Police Chief Brian Myers.
The horrific triple homicide was first reported to the police around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, sending shockwaves through the local community. The victims have been identified as 76-year-old Ida Thomas Welch, 56-year-old Vicky Renee Welch, and 42-year-old Crystal Lynn Welch, as per WLBT.
Following the incident, an arrest warrant was issued for the suspect, Ivory James Welch III, and the U.S. Marshals Task Force immediately launched a search operation to apprehend him.
In a tragic turn of events, Welch managed to flee to Arizona before being tracked down by troopers. A confrontation ensued, leading to Welch being fatally shot during a shootout with law enforcement.

Crystal Lynn Welch, one of the victims, played an active role as a member of the Mississippi ACLU Board of Directors since 2023. Her untimely demise has left a void in the community and among her colleagues, as expressed by ACLU MS Executive Director Jarvis Dortch.
