AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. (WJBF) – The Aiken County Coroner’s Office has identified the body found in a wooded area in Aiken County as that of a 52-year-old man who had been reported missing.
Calvin L. Edwards, a resident of Salley, was reported missing on May 8th. The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office launched a search operation to locate him.
On Friday, May 10th, a body was discovered in a wooded area off Hunters Branch Road. The authorities confirmed that the body belonged to Calvin L. Edwards.
According to reports, Edwards was last seen on the evening of May 8th, heading towards a pond near Hunter Branch Road. Concerns grew when he failed to return home.
An autopsy conducted in Newberry on Monday revealed that Edwards’ death was attributed to natural causes, as determined by the Coroner’s Office.
The investigation into Edwards’ disappearance and subsequent death is still ongoing, with both the Coroner’s Office and the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office actively involved in the case.
