Accident – Death – Obituary News :

The hush money trial of former President Donald Trump is currently underway, with Michael Cohen taking the witness stand to testify. Prosecutors are aiming to prove that Trump illegally falsified business records by paying adult film actress Stormy Daniels to keep silent about her alleged affair with him, with Cohen being reimbursed for the payment. Trump’s attorney argues that the payments to Cohen were a retainer for legal expenses, not hush money. The defense asserts that it is not against the law to pay to stop unfounded rumors. Cohen, who pleaded guilty to federal charges related to the payoff, served three years in prison and home confinement.

Meanwhile, a report from The New York Times and ProPublica suggests that Trump could face a hefty IRS bill of over $100 million in connection to a Chicago skyscraper. The report indicates that Trump allegedly double-dipped on tax losses associated with the property, claiming financial losses and deeming the property worthless. The IRS has been investigating these losses for years.

In Guilford County, a homicide investigation is underway following an incident on Eversfield Road, with the Sheriff’s Office confirming that the incident appears to be isolated and poses no threat to the community.

Over in Winston-Salem, police are investigating a car crash involving a vehicle colliding with a utility pole on Reidsville Road. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and power outages were avoided as Duke Energy crews worked to address the situation.

Switching gears to Burlington, a man has been taken into custody on arson charges in connection to two mobile homes that caught fire on Maple Avenue. The suspect, Jose Santiago Dimas, surrendered to the police and is currently in the Alamance County Jail with no bond.

Additionally, Burlington fire investigators are looking into the cause of a blaze at a Super 8 Motel on Huffman Road. The fire, which broke out in the early hours of the morning, resulted in the evacuation of nearby rooms but thankfully did not cause any injuries.

Man Arrested for Stabbing Girlfriend and Setting Her on Fire in Rowan County

A man has been arrested in Rowan County on charges of arson and attempted murder after a disturbing incident. On May 10, deputies responded to Chez Charolais Road following a report of a possible arson and stabbing. Upon arrival, they discovered a mobile home engulfed in flames, with evidence pointing to the use of motor fuel in both the arson and assault.

According to detectives, the victim was with her boyfriend, James Gunnerson, when he stabbed her during an argument before dousing her and the home in motor fuel and setting it ablaze. The victim managed to escape and seek help from a neighbor, while Gunnerson was apprehended by fire crews in the backyard armed with a knife. Following a Taser altercation, he was taken into custody.

The victim sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Baptist Church for critical treatment. Gunnerson, who also suffered burns, was later arrested in Forsyth County and is currently held in the Forsyth County Detention Center without bond.
