Accident – Death – Obituary News : The Kaduna State Police Command has made a significant breakthrough in the case of the abduction and murder of six-year-old Aisha Saidu in the Zaria area of the state. The suspect, identified as Abdulazeez Idris, who is said to be a cousin brother to the victim, has been apprehended by the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Kaduna.
According to a statement released by the spokesperson for the state’s Police Command, ASP Mansir Hassan, Aisha Saidu, a resident of Angwan Juma’a, Zaria, went missing on her way to Islamiyya school on February 12, 2024. Her father, Mr Saidu Dahiru, reported her disappearance to the Zaria City Police station, expressing suspicions of foul play by her cousin brother, Abdulazeez Idris.
The investigation took a dark turn when Abdulazeez was traced and arrested in Makarfi Local Council. He confessed to the heinous crime, admitting to abducting Aisha and brutally murdering her by slashing her neck with a razor blade. Subsequently, he callously dumped her lifeless body in a nearby well.
In a disturbing twist, following the girl’s disappearance, Mr Dahiru received a phone call from an unknown individual, later identified as the perpetrator, demanding a ransom of N8,000,000 for her safe return. The case was then transferred to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the SCID Kaduna, where Abdulazeez Idris was apprehended in Makarfi Local Council.
The Commissioner of Police, Audu Ali Dabigi, has assured the public that the case will be diligently investigated to ensure that justice is served for Aisha Saidu and her grieving family. The suspect will be charged to court as soon as the investigation is completed.
