Sushila Gopalsinh Rajput : Tragic Dandi Beach Incident: Family of Four Swept Away

A tragic incident unfolded at Dandi beach in Gujarat’s Navsari district, turning a family outing into a heart-wrenching disaster. Four members of a family, including a woman and her two sons, were swept away by the sea on Sunday. The individuals who went missing have been identified as Sushila Gopalsinh Rajput (42), her sons Daksh (11) and Yuvraj (17), and her sister’s daughter Durga (17).

Deputy Collector Janam Thakore stated, “Three individuals were rescued by Home Guards, while unfortunately, four others could not be saved as they were swept away into the sea before help could reach them.” Immediate search efforts were launched with the assistance of the local fire brigade and police personnel.

A relative of the Rajput family shared that they originally hailed from Bhilwara in Rajasthan but had settled in Khadsupa village in Navsari district. Parasmal Kumavat, a family member, recounted the tragic incident, mentioning that the group was enjoying a picnic on Navsari beach when the tragedy struck. Despite valiant efforts by Gopalsinh, Sushila Rajput’s husband, and subsequent assistance from Home Guards, they were unable to avert the disaster.

“The family was picnicking on the Navsari beach in the morning when four members were suddenly swept into the sea. Gopalsinh tried hard to save them. As he failed, he raised an alarm, prompting Home Guards to rush to the scene. Despite their best efforts, they were unsuccessful,” shared Parasmal Kumavat.

It is worth noting that a similar incident occurred last year when a 27-year-old woman drowned during a picnic with her family after being hit by a wave while taking a selfie with her husband at Bandstand, Bandra, Mumbai. Upon receiving information about the incident, the fire brigade and police arrived at the location to search for the woman but, tragically, they were unable to rescue her.
