A suspected kidnapper who allegedly abducted his cousin and brutally killed her after she recognized him has been apprehended by the Kaduna State Police Command.
The arrest of the perpetrator, identified as Abdulazeez Idris, was confirmed by the Command’s spokesman, ASP Mansir Hassan, in a statement released on Sunday in Kaduna.
The incident was reported by Mr. Saidu Dahiru, father of the victim, Aisha Saidu, a six-year-old female resident of Angwan Juma’a, Zaria. According to Mr. Dahiru, Aisha went missing on her way to Islamiyya school, and was allegedly abducted by her cousin’s brother, Abdulazeez Idris.
Following the girl’s disappearance, Mr. Dahiru received a ransom demand of N8 million from an unknown caller, later identified as the perpetrator, Abdulazeez Idris.
The case was transferred to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Kaduna, where Abdulazeez Idris was traced and arrested in Makarfi Local Government.
Abdulazeez Idris confessed to the crime, admitting to slaying the innocent child by slashing her neck with a razor blade because she recognized him. He then disposed of her lifeless body in a well.
Commissioner of Police, Ali Dabigi, assured the public that the case would be thoroughly investigated to ensure justice for Aisha Saidu and her grieving family. The suspect will face charges in court once the investigation is concluded.
