– Crystal Lake murder suspect
– Missing person Crystal Lake.
Accident – Death – Obituary News :
A Pingree Grove man has been accused of kidnapping and murdering 57-year-old James Cromwell, a resident of Crystal Lake, according to the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office.
61-year-old Douglas Ottesen, who resides in the 600 block of North Falls Circle, faces nearly a dozen felony charges, including three counts of first-degree murder and two counts of aggravated kidnapping.
Cromwell was reported missing earlier this year, prompting a police investigation that revealed suspicious circumstances surrounding his disappearance. Prosecutors believe foul play was involved in Cromwell’s case.
The investigation led authorities to obtain search warrants for two properties – one in Hampshire at a property listed on the 45W200 block of Illinois Route 72, and another at Ottesen’s residence in Pingree Grove.
On May 7, authorities conducted searches at both properties and discovered human remains at the Hampshire location. Subsequent analysis confirmed the remains belonged to Cromwell, who had been shot to death, as determined by an autopsy.
Douglas Ottesen is currently in custody at the Kane County Jail as he awaits further legal proceedings.
