A tragic incident occurred in Robertson County, where a 20-year-old driver lost their life in a multi-vehicle wreck. The Tennessee Highway Patrol reported that the crash took place at the intersection of East 22nd Avenue and Woodland Street.
The individual who lost their life in the collision has been identified as Eligh Holmes, as per the preliminary report from THP. The accident occurred shortly before 6 p.m. and was promptly reported by the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office.
Aside from the fatality, four other individuals were injured in the collision. Among the injured were a 20-year-old passenger in the Dodge Challenger driven by Holmes, as well as two adults and a 10-year-old boy in a Honda Civic.
According to the initial investigation conducted by THP, the Dodge Challenger was travelling west on East 22nd Avenue when it attempted to overtake another vehicle in a no-passing zone. The vehicle then collided with the oncoming Honda Civic travelling east.
Following the initial collision, the Challenger veered off the left side of the road and crashed into a stationary 2016 Chevrolet Malibu parked in a driveway.
Notably, neither the driver nor the passenger in the Challenger were wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision. Conversely, the driver of the Civic and the child were wearing their seatbelts, while the adult passenger in the Civic was not.
Charges are pending for the passenger in the Challenger, pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation.
