The Euclid Police Department has named the 24-year-old man believed to be responsible for the fatal shooting of one of their officers on Saturday night in Cleveland, Ohio.

According to Euclid Police Captain Mitch Houser, the suspect has been identified as Deshawn Anthony Vaughn.

A statewide Ohio Blue Alert has been issued for Vaughn, as authorities seek public assistance in locating him after the incident.

In July 2017, a jury in the Lake County Court of Common Pleas found Vaughn guilty of second-degree felonious assault. Following the conviction, Vaughn was sentenced to four years in prison, with credit for 270 days served.

Additionally, Vaughn pleaded guilty in the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas in October 2021 to reduced charges of receiving stolen property and possessing weapons under disability. The judge handed down a 263-day prison sentence for these offenses.

The Euclid Police Department described Vaughn as 6 feet, 3 inches tall, weighing 215 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

Vaughn was last spotted driving a white Volkswagen Jetta with Ohio license plate No. R947155. Authorities have warned that he is considered armed and extremely dangerous.
