Portsmouth Police received a distressing call reporting a shooting in the 1200 block of Wilcox Avenue just before 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Upon arrival at the scene, authorities found an adult male with a critical gunshot wound. Despite the efforts of medics, the man, identified as Antwain Lamont Terry, 46, tragically succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into this senseless tragedy is ongoing, with the Portsmouth Police Major Crimes Unit leading the efforts to uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident. At present, no suspects have been identified, and the motive behind the shooting remains unknown.
