Man kidnaps his 6-year-old cousin in Kaduna; kills her after she recognizes him
The Kaduna State Police Command has apprehended a suspected kidnapper, identified as Abdulazeez Idris, for the alleged abduction and murder of his 6-year-old cousin in Makarfi Local Government Area of the state.
The victim, Aisha Saidu, was reportedly on her way to an Islamiyya school when the tragic incident occurred.
According to ASP Mansur Hassan, the spokesperson of the command, the suspect used a razor blade to fatally injure the young girl because she recognized him.
Despite committing this heinous act, he proceeded to demand a ransom of N8 million through an unknown caller posing as the perpetrator.
The incident took place on February 12, 2024, as reported by the PPRO.
“On February 12, 2024, at approximately 1:00 hrs, Mr. Saidu Dahiru, the father of the victim and a resident of Angwan Juma’a, Zaria, reported to the Zaria City police station that his daughter, Aisha Saidu, a six-year-old female, had gone missing on her way to an Islamiyya school,” the statement disclosed.
“The case was subsequently transferred to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of SCID Kaduna, where the culprit, Abdulazeez Idris, was located and apprehended in Makarfi Local Government.
“During interrogation, the suspect confessed to the brutal crime, admitting to the murder of the innocent child by slashing her neck with a razor blade because she recognized him, and then disposing of her lifeless body in a well.”
The Commissioner of Police, CP Audu Dabigi, has assured the public that a thorough investigation will be conducted to ensure justice for the victim and her bereaved family.
The suspect is expected to face charges in court once the investigation is concluded.
