The fifth and final suspect involved in the shooting incident outside a convenience store in Barangay Yati, Liloan, Cebu, has surrendered to the Liloan Police Station. The incident, which took place in the early hours of Thursday, May 9, 2024, resulted in the tragic death of a 16-year-old girl believed to be a member of the Crips gang, as well as injuries to her two male companions.

The suspect, known only as Ugoy and hailing from Sitio Tagaytay, Barangay Calero, Liloan, turned himself in accompanied by his parents on Friday, May 10, 2024. According to Police Major Eric Gingoyon, chief of the Liloan Police Station, Ugoy surrendered at the Calero barangay hall before being taken into custody by the police.

Prior to Ugoy’s surrender, another suspect named Mak-Mak, aged 21, had been arrested and identified Ugoy as the shooter in the incident. Mak-Mak claimed that he was simply the driver during the shooting, with Ugoy being the one who fired the shots. However, Ugoy denied these allegations, stating that he had no involvement in the incident and had merely accompanied the group.

The chain of arrests began with the apprehension of a suspect named Nilo, 18, in Barangay Looc, Danao City. Nilo was identified by a witness and subsequently led the police to the other suspects. The 34-year-old twins were then arrested in Purok Malipayon, Immaculada, Barangay Jagobiao, Mandaue City, and a 9mm pistol with six live rounds was recovered from their possession. Mak-Mak, the fourth suspect, was arrested in Barangay Calero.

Police Chief Gingoyon revealed that all five suspects are believed to be members of the Bloods gang, which is the rival of the Crips gang. The motive behind the crime is suspected to stem from personal animosities and tensions between the two groups.

With the surrender of Ugoy, all five individuals involved in the shooting incident are now in police custody. The investigation into the incident continues as authorities work to bring justice to the victims and their families.
