Accident – Death – Obituary News : An 18-year-old high school student from North Carolina, Olivia Bruce, was tragically found dead in a movie theater parking lot in Charlotte on Thursday, May 9. She had been reported missing two days prior to her discovery.
The Matthews Police Department officially identified Olivia Bruce as the deceased individual in a Facebook update. It was the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department officers who located her body in the 7800 block of Rea Road in Charlotte after responding to a call shortly before 1 p.m. on the aforementioned Thursday.
In their news release, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department confirmed that Olivia Bruce, who had initially been reported missing to the Matthews Police Department, was found deceased at the scene. The department further stated that an investigation into her death is currently underway, with no evidence of foul play being discovered at this time.
Aerial footage captured outside the Regal Stonecrest at Piper Glen movie theater by WSOC-TV showed the area cordoned off by crime scene tape and several patrol cars present at the scene. Olivia Bruce was last seen leaving Providence High School on Tuesday, May 7, according to the Matthews Police Department.
Described as a “black female, 5’06” tall, weighing 120 lbs., with blue hair and brown eyes,” Olivia Bruce was reportedly wearing light gray sweatpants, a multicolored shirt, and possibly Converse shoes at the time of her disappearance. She was also driving a 2017 gray Chevrolet Volt.
Following Olivia Bruce’s untimely death, a letter was sent out to families by Providence High School principal Tracey Harrill, expressing deep sorrow and offering support to those affected by the loss.
