According to a news release, officers confirmed that Bruce, who had been reported missing to the Matthews Police Department, was found dead at the scene. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is currently conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.

Bruce, who was last seen leaving Providence High School on May 7, was described by the Matthews Police Department as a black female, 5’06” tall, weighing 120 lbs, with blue hair and brown eyes. She was believed to be wearing light gray sweatpants, a multicolored shirt, and possibly Converse shoes at the time of her disappearance. Bruce was also driving a 2017 gray Chevrolet Volt.
Following Bruce’s death, a letter was sent out to families by Providence High School principal Tracey Harrill.
