A Henderson resident, Kyler Blake Thompson, has been arrested and is currently being held at the Baxter County Detention Center on charges of commercial burglary and first-degree criminal mischief. The charges stem from an incident where Thompson allegedly vandalized a laundromat and car wash in the area.
On May 2, Baxter County investigators responded to a report of vandalism at a laundromat and car wash located on Wilderness Point Road in Henderson. Surveillance footage from the previous day showed a male individual entering the establishment with a roofing hatchet and causing extensive damage to the building before destroying the camera system.
During their investigation, the authorities found a piece of debris near the scene that led them to a nearby residence. Upon further inspection, they spotted a male individual matching the description of the suspect seen in the surveillance footage. This individual was later identified as Kyler Thompson.
When questioned by investigators, Thompson claimed to have no recollection of the incident, attributing his lack of memory to being intoxicated a couple of days prior. He also denied knowledge of the hatchet used in the vandalism.
Thompson was subsequently taken into custody and transported to the detention center. Further inspection of the area led to the identification of a witness who confirmed Thompson’s involvement in the incident. The owner of the laundromat estimated the damage caused by Thompson to be between $1,000 and $5,000.
Thompson’s bond has been set at $15,000 as he awaits further legal proceedings in connection to the vandalism charges.
