Authorities in Georgia have identified the victims of a horrific murder-suicide that took place in Lucky Shoals Park early Wednesday morning. The incident involved a 56-year-old man, Jose Plasencia, and three children: Arianny Rodriguez, 13; Carlos Rodriguez, 9; and Chadal Rodriguez, 11.
According to reports from WXIA, Plasencia was the ex-partner of the children’s mother, but not their biological father. The tragic incident unfolded after the mother, who had four children with Plasencia, brought them to the hospital due to injuries sustained by one of the children.
As the mother stayed behind with the injured child, she allowed Plasencia to take the other three children for food. However, she became concerned when she was unable to reach him as the night progressed.
A Gwinnett County Police officer made a heartbreaking discovery at Lucky Shoals Park around 1 a.m. when they found a car parked on a walking trail. Inside the vehicle were the bodies of Plasencia and the three children, all with gunshot wounds, as reported by CrimeOnline.
Gwinnett County Police Sgt. Michele Phiera expressed the tragic nature of the incident, stating, “It is tragic. Our officers are going to step aside and… do the job to the fullest and make sure that they investigate this as if it were any other homicide. And try to, at least, bring some conclusion to the families who may be involved.”
