New Delhi, 10th May 2024 – A tragic incident unfolded in southeast Delhi’s Jangpura area on Friday, as a 63-year-old doctor was reportedly killed by robbers at his residence. The victim, identified as Dr. Yogesh Chander Paul, was a well-respected general physician who also ran a private clinic in the same locality.
The shocking incident came to light when a distress call was made to the police control room at the Hazrat Nizamuddin railways station at around 6.50 p.m. The call reported a case of murder at the upper ground floor of C-14, Jangpura Extension, Delhi, prompting a swift response from the police team.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (southeast) Rajesh Deo, Dr. Paul resided at the aforementioned address with his wife, Dr. Neena Paul, who is also a doctor employed by the Delhi government. Upon reaching the scene, the law enforcement officers discovered the lifeless body of the doctor in the kitchen.
Further investigation revealed that the rooms in the house had been ransacked, indicating a possible robbery motive. DCP Deo stated, “Prima facie, It appears that the accused persons robbed the house and brought fatality to Dr. Paul.” The authorities called in forensic and crime scene teams to gather evidence.
An official involved in the probe disclosed that Dr. Paul’s hands were bound, leading to suspicions that he may have been suffocated to death. The community is in shock and mourning the loss of a dedicated healthcare professional.
The police are currently conducting a thorough investigation to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice. The tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of security measures in residential areas to prevent such heinous crimes from recurring.
