A shocking incident has come to light in Madhya Pradesh, where a 24-year-old man allegedly murdered his stepmother in a bid to lay hands on the Rs 30 lakh she had saved in a fixed deposit. Sheopur District Police have revealed the gruesome details of this heinous crime.

Motive behind the Crime

The accused, identified as Deepak Pachauri, was taken into custody by the police on Thursday for the heinous murder of his 65-year-old stepmother, Usha. Reports suggest that Deepak’s motive behind this brutal act was his desperate need for money.

Police Investigation

Deepak had initially reported to the Kotwali police in Sheopur town that his mother had gone missing from their home. However, as the investigation progressed, the police became suspicious of his inconsistent statements. It was later revealed that he had incurred significant losses in the share market and was in dire need of funds.

Discovery of the Crime

During the investigation, the police team discovered a newly constructed area within the bathroom of the residence. Upon further inspection, they uncovered the body of the victim, Usha. Deepak eventually confessed to the crime, admitting that he had murdered his stepmother to gain access to the substantial sum she had in a fixed deposit, for which he was the nominee.

Family Background

Relatives of the victim revealed that Usha and her late husband had adopted Deepak from an orphanage 23 years ago. Following the death of Bhuvendra Pachauri in 2021, Usha and Deepak continued to reside together.
