The deceased, identified as Chaitra, was the wife of S.M. Shivakumar, who is employed in the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB).
The couple tied the knot in 2016 and were blessed with a daughter. The tragic event unfolded around 1 p.m. when Shivakumar, who had been out, returned home to find his wife lifeless. The police were immediately informed, and the body was moved for post-mortem examination, while a thorough examination of the crime scene was conducted.
It was revealed that a death note was discovered at the site, in which the deceased mentioned that her decision to take her own life was a result of overwhelming stress and depression, absolving anyone else of responsibility for her demise. However, doubts emerged regarding the authenticity of the note, with suspicions arising that it may have been written days prior to the incident.
Following a complaint lodged by the deceased’s brother, the police have registered a case of unnatural death and are awaiting the post-mortem report to determine the exact cause of Chaitra’s passing. The questionable death note has been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for further analysis to ascertain whether foul play was involved, as stated by a senior police official.
