In a shocking incident that has sent shockwaves through the community, a man in Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh, brutally murdered his five family members before taking his own life. The tragic event took place on Saturday in Palhapur village of Rampur Mathura, approximately 90 kilometres from Lucknow.
The accused, identified as 42-year-old Anurag Singh, started by shooting his 65-year-old mother, Savitri, before attacking his 40-year-old wife, Priyanka, with a hammer.
Following these horrific acts, the man turned his attention towards his three children. He callously threw all three of them off the roof of their house—Ashwini (12), Aarna (9), and Advik (6). Sadly, Advik succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.
After committing these heinous crimes, the man took his own life.
Reports suggest that the perpetrator was suffering from mental health issues and was addicted to drugs. He frequently clashed with his family members, who were trying to get him help by sending him to a de-addiction centre.
Prior to the tragic events of Saturday, the man had reportedly argued with his family members, leading to a tense atmosphere in the household.
Upon arriving at the scene, the police found Advik in critical condition and the lifeless bodies of his five family members.
Sitapur SP Chakresh Mishra stated, “Today, police received information from Palapur village that a mentally ill person, named Anurag Singh aged 45 years, has allegedly killed five people of his family before committing suicide. While investigating, police found that he killed his wife aged 40, his mother aged 65, and his three children who were 12, nine, and six years old. The police and the FSL team are investigating.”
Authorities have confirmed that investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of the tragedy.
