A man has been taken into custody and charged with murder following a tragic incident at a McDonald’s restaurant located off the Katy Freeway in Houston. The incident, which occurred last week, resulted in the death of a prominent attorney.
Authorities arrested Anthony Martin Landry, aged 57, on Friday in connection with the murder that took place on May 9. In addition to the murder charge, Landry also faces allegations of aggravated battery against a family member, as per court documents released following his arrest.
Currently, Landry is being held at the Harris County Jail without the option of bail.
The fatal shooting occurred at the McDonald’s premises situated on the 8147 Katy Freeway service road at approximately 6:00 p.m. on May 4, according to the Houston Police Department.
Upon responding to the scene, Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the victim, identified as 46-year-old Jeffrey Limmer, deceased.
Following the shooting, the suspect fled the scene in a blue Ford truck dating back to the early 2000s.
Witnesses reported that the altercation began when the suspect, identified as Landry, expressed dissatisfaction with his order, demanded a refund, and engaged in a heated exchange with the staff. Court documents revealed that Landry directed racial slurs and other derogatory remarks towards the employees.
It was alleged that Limmer attempted to defuse the situation by intervening, but the suspect redirected his aggression towards him.
Subsequently, a confrontation ensued outside the restaurant, during which Limmer pushed Landry to the ground before re-entering the establishment. At this point, the suspect retrieved a firearm from his vehicle, re-entered the McDonald’s, and shot Limmer twice before fleeing the scene.
Limmer was a respected lawyer affiliated with the law firm Lewis Brisbois.
Further investigations revealed that Landry had a criminal history dating back to 1997, including charges of evading arrest and forgery.
