A suspect has been apprehended and formally charged in relation to a shooting incident that left a male individual injured on the southeast side of South Bend.
On the evening of April 26, the South Bend Police Department received a distress call regarding a shooting in the 900 block of E. Amhurst Avenue.
Upon reaching the scene, law enforcement officers discovered a male victim with visible gunshot wounds. The injured individual was swiftly taken to a nearby medical facility where he received medical attention for injuries deemed non-life-threatening.
Following an intensive inquiry conducted by the South Bend Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit, 19-year-old Anthony Branch was identified as a prime suspect in connection with the incident.
After reviewing all pertinent case details and evidence, the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office formally pressed charges against Branch for Battery by Means of a Deadly Weapon.
On the morning of Friday, May 10, Anthony Branch was apprehended with the invaluable assistance of the St. Joseph County Warrants Division.
Currently, Branch is being detained at the St. Joseph County Jail as legal proceedings progress.
