EVANSVILLE, UK (WFIE) – A man has been arrested by the Evansville Police Department and charged with multiple felony sex crimes, according to officials.
An affidavit reveals that a minor disclosed in an interview with authorities that she had moved in with her mother’s boyfriend, identified as Willie Hemphill, in November 2023.
The victim detailed that Hemphill engaged in sexual activity with her on multiple occasions, with the most recent incident occurring when she was 17 years old.
Law enforcement officials were informed by the victim that she was 15 years old when Hemphill initiated sexual advances towards her.
The victim recounted that Hemphill would visit her every night, entering her room after her mother had fallen asleep to engage in sexual acts.
The victim stated that Hemphill cautioned her against informing her mother about the incidents, professing his love for her. She described how the encounters took place in the living room, her bedroom, and her mother’s bedroom.
Hemphill has been placed in the Vanderburgh County Jail and charged with rape and sexual misconduct with a minor.
