Accident – Death – Obituary News : COIMBATORE: The Enforcement Bureau made a significant arrest on Friday, apprehending a 44-year-old individual from Anthiyur in Erode district for the unlawful possession of 600 bottles of Indian made foreign liquor (IMFL) intended for sale at his residence.
The man in question, identified as S Suresh Kumar, a resident of Mudaliar Street in Anthiyur, was taken into custody by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) P Shanmugam and his team following a tip-off regarding the presence of liquor bottles at his residence.
Acting swiftly on the information received, a police team conducted a search at Suresh Kumar’s residence at 8 am, where they discovered a stash of 600 bottles of IMFL. The confiscated bottles included a variety of alcoholic beverages such as brandy, whisky, rum, vodka, and beer, all earmarked for illegal sales.
Subsequently, Suresh Kumar was charged under several sections of the Tamil Nadu Prohibition Act by the Enforcement Bureau police and was subsequently remanded in judicial custody.
DSP Shanmugam disclosed that efforts are underway to compile information on Tasmac employees who supplied large quantities of liquor to Suresh Kumar for illicit distribution in the black market.
The enforcement of laws pertaining to the sale and consumption of alcohol remains a top priority for authorities in Tamil Nadu, with stringent measures being taken to curb the illegal trade of liquor in the region.
