SHENANDOAH COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A devastating incident occurred in Shenandoah County on Wednesday, resulting in the loss of a bicyclist’s life after being struck by a driver.
Details of the Incident
Virginia State Police reported that the fatal crash occurred at approximately 1:20 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8th, at the intersection of Old Valley Pike and Maple Lane.
Victim Identified
The bicyclist has been identified as 53-year-old Rex A. Catt, a resident of Shenandoah County. Reports indicate that Catt was attempting to cross Old Valley Pike at Maple Lane when he was struck by a 2024 Kia Seltos travelling South. Tragically, Catt succumbed to his injuries while being transported to Shenandoah Memorial Hospital.
Ongoing Investigation
The incident is currently under investigation by the Virginia State Police as they work to determine the circumstances that led to this fatal collision.
