The suspect in the tragic murder case of a 16-year-old girl in Karnataka’s Kodagu reportedly took his own life on Friday, according to local authorities.
The individual, identified as Prakash, aged 32, had allegedly committed the heinous act of killing a minor girl and fleeing with her decapitated head in the village of Mutlu in Somwarpet, located within Karnataka’s Kodagu district. Upon the police’s attempts to capture the fugitive suspect, his lifeless body was discovered near his place of residence.
It was revealed that the minor girl and the 32-year-old man were due to be engaged in a formal union.
The engagement of the young girl was halted by officials from the Women and Child Development Department on May 9. The said authorities also successfully persuaded the parents of the girl to terminate the planned marriage.
Subsequent to the termination of the marriage arrangement, Prakash forcibly entered the girl’s residence on the afternoon of Thursday, May 8, at approximately 5:30 pm. He proceeded to forcibly remove the girl from the premises before committing the gruesome act of decapitating her.
Following the horrific incident, the victim’s mother sustained injuries and is currently undergoing medical treatment at a local hospital. The underlying motive behind the brutal murder remains unclear as per the ongoing investigation conducted by law enforcement.
After perpetrating the crime, Prakash fled from the scene with the severed head of the girl and had been evading authorities since that time.
Later on, his lifeless body was discovered hanging near his residence in the Hammiyala area of Kodagu. However, the authorities have yet to locate the missing severed head of the girl, prompting ongoing searches to recover the crucial evidence.
