A horrific incident unfolded in Kodagu district as a 16-year-old girl met a tragic end at the hands of a man who allegedly decapitated her after their planned marriage was called off due to her being a minor.
The accused, identified as Prakash, aged 32, is currently on the run, leaving a trail of shock and disbelief in the Surlabbi village where the crime took place.
The victim, Meena, had recently completed her SSLC and was engaged to Prakash. However, the engagement was halted following intervention from the Child Welfare Department, citing legal complications related to her age.
Despite both families agreeing to wait until Meena turned 18 before proceeding with the marriage, Prakash took matters into his own hands. On Thursday evening, he forcefully entered Meena’s home, attacked her parents, and brutally murdered her before fleeing with her head.
Meena’s parents were rushed to the hospital, with her mother sustaining injuries from the assault. The police are actively pursuing the accused, with a case filed against him under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children against Sexual Offences Act.
Tragically, Meena was the youngest among her siblings, leaving her family devastated by the senseless act of violence.
