Accident – Death – Obituary News :

A 45-year-old woman from Raritan Township has been indicted on charges of murdering her 66-year-old housemate in February. Domonique Preston, the accused, was also indicted on charges of third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon by a Hunterdon County grand jury, as announced by Hunterdon County Prosecutor Renee Robeson.

The incident took place at their residence on Manchester Road, located behind the Dutch Country Farm Market, on the night of February 21. Police were called to the scene at approximately 1:40 a.m. after Preston dialed 911 to report that her housemate, later identified as Steve Spivey, had stabbed himself, according to an affidavit of probable cause.

Upon arrival, law enforcement officers found Preston on top of Spivey, who was lying on a bed with visible wounds to his chest and head. Preston was then taken into custody for questioning, during which she confessed to stabbing Spivey multiple times despite being advised of her Miranda rights.

Raritan Township Police Officer Eli Walters, the investigating detective, stated in the affidavit that Preston had admitted to the crime even during the processing phase. She is currently being held at the Warren County Correctional Center in Belvidere and is represented by Herminia A. Moreira from the Public Defender’s Office.
