CEDAR CITY, Utah — A 19-year-old man, Cory Scott Kaiser, is in custody after allegedly attempting multiple burglaries at a home, a gas station, and a pawn shop in Cedar City on Thursday.
According to a probable cause statement from the Cedar City Police Department, Kaiser first broke into a home near Crescent Hills Drive by entering through a bathroom window. He then proceeded to take a knife from the kitchen before being startled by the residents and fleeing the scene.
Shortly after, police responded to reports of a shattered window at a gas station located at 1495 W. 200 N. Upon arrival, they found a rock had been thrown through the window, and Kaiser was identified as the suspect who had entered the premises before fleeing once again.
Within forty minutes, a burglary was reported at the Cedar Post Pawn Shop, where Officer Benjamin Peterson apprehended Kaiser as he exited the building’s gun counter area. Kaiser was taken into custody and informed of his rights.
Confession and Charges
During questioning, Kaiser confessed to entering the residence to search for valuable items and admitted to breaking into both the gas station and the pawn shop. As a result, he was arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary and property damage/destruction.
