At approximately 7:30 in the evening on Tuesday, May 8th, officers from the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office responded to a vehicle crash on McGraw Marathon Road in Cortlandville. Upon arrival, they discovered the vehicle abandoned, with no sign of the driver.

After conducting a search of the area, law enforcement officers were able to locate the driver, who was identified as 25-year-old Michael J. Warner of Marathon. Warner was found to be under the influence of alcohol and subsequently arrested for driving while intoxicated (DWI), a Misdemeanour offence under British law.

In addition to the DWI charge, Warner is facing further charges, including Driving with a Blood Alcohol Content of .08% or More, Reckless Driving (both Misdemeanours), and 6 Violations. Following his arrest, Warner was taken to the Sheriff’s Office for processing and later released on uniform traffic tickets. He is scheduled to appear in Cortlandville Town Court later this month to answer to the charges.
