Accident – Death – Obituary News :

A man has been arrested in connection with the deaths of two Australian surfers and their American friend in Mexico. The suspect, known only by his first names of Jesus Gerardo, reportedly confessed to carrying out the killings to his girlfriend, according to prosecutors.

The bodies of brothers Callum and Jake Robinson, aged 33 and 30 respectively, were discovered in a remote well after they were killed during a surfing and camping trip in Baja California, across the border from San Diego. Their friend, US citizen Jack Carter Rhoad, was also found dead alongside them.

Prosecutors have identified three potential suspects in the case, with two of them being caught with methamphetamines. One of the suspects, a woman, was found in possession of one of the victim’s cellphones when she was apprehended.

Suspects in Custody

The two suspects held on drug charges, Ari Gisell and Cristian Alejandro Garcia, are still considered suspects in the killings. Jesus, the third man arrested, is currently facing charges equivalent to kidnapping, though it is expected that the charges will be upgraded to murder.

According to Australian news network ABC, Jesus, also known as “El Kekas,” appeared in court in the Mexican city of Ensenada. He was seen wearing an orange jumpsuit and white sneakers, with his hands and feet handcuffed and chained to the floor.

Confession to Girlfriend

The state’s case against Jesus includes testimony from his then-girlfriend, Ari Gisell, who has become a prosecution witness. She told authorities that Jesus had confessed to killing the three men, stating, “I messed up three gringos.” She recounted how he showed her a mobile phone and new tyres, allegedly stolen from the victims.

Mexican authorities believe that the victims were targeted for their tyres, along with cash and electronic valuables. Chief state prosecutor María Elena Andrade Ramírez stated that the suspects saw the victims’ pickup truck and tents, attempted to steal the tyres, and a confrontation ensued.

Discovery of Bodies

After the killings, the suspects reportedly drove to a remote location, dumped the bodies in a well, and covered it with boards. It took authorities two hours to recover the bodies from the well, which was described as extremely difficult to access.

A fourth body was found with the victims, believed to be a rancher who owned the property and had been missing for two weeks. Authorities do not believe his death is connected to the surfers’ killings.

Tribute to Victims

Debra Robinson, the mother of Callum and Jake, paid tribute to her sons in an emotional speech in San Diego. She described her sons as young men who shared a passion for surfing and living life to the fullest.

Ms Robinson expressed her devastation over the loss of her sons and encouraged others to live boldly in their memory. She shared anecdotes about Callum considering the United States his second home and Jake’s dedication to surfing, even choosing hospitals near the beach to work in as a doctor.

As the investigation into the killings continues, authorities are exploring all leads to bring justice to the victims and their families.
