Accident – Death – Obituary News : An eight-year-old girl was successfully rescued within 24 hours of being kidnapped by a man near her residence in the Kotla Mubarak Pur area of Delhi on Monday. The Delhi Police swiftly sprang into action, leading to the arrest of the alleged kidnapper, identified as Arjun, alias Mohammad Umer, 28, on Tuesday evening from his residence in Andheria Mor. He was charged under Indian Penal Code (IPC) Section 363 for kidnapping, and the young girl was safely reunited with her family after undergoing a medical examination.
The distressing incident came to light on Monday afternoon when the girl’s father reported to the police that his daughter had been taken away by an unknown man. Despite his efforts to locate the perpetrator, he was unable to track them down. The authorities immediately launched a concerted effort, forming multiple teams comprised of the Anti Auto Theft Squad, Special Staff, and the Kotla Mubarak Pur Police Station to expedite the search for the missing girl.
In a bid to gather crucial evidence, the police meticulously reviewed CCTV footage from the vicinity and interrogated family members and relatives to ascertain any possible personal vendettas. The meticulous analysis of the CCTV recordings revealed that the suspect had approached the South Extension-1 bus stop before leading the girl in the same direction.
Further investigation led the police to scrutinize footage from CCTVs installed within buses stationed at the Kashmere Gate Interstate Bus Terminus (ISBT). It was discovered that the accused had boarded a DTC bus at Safdarjung Hospital, alighting at South Extension-1. Subsequent examination of metro station footage indicated that the man disembarked at the Qutub Minar Metro Station before boarding a bus to Andheria Mor.
After scouring through the slum areas in Andheria Mor, the law enforcement officers finally located the man’s residence where the girl had been held captive. Despite being apprehended, Arjun has remained tight-lipped about his motives, claiming to be a glass toymaker who happened upon the girl while in Kotla Mubarak Pur to purchase glassware.
Ankit Chauhan, Deputy Commissioner of Police South, stated, “There are no prior criminal records associated with the accused individual. However, we are actively investigating to determine if he has been involved in similar crimes in the past.”
