PLEEBO, Maryland — The community of Pleebo, Maryland County, was left in shock after the body of a 23-year-old man, identified as Victor Wilson, Jr., was discovered in a creek in the Gebio community. Authorities have confirmed that Wilson died as a result of drowning.
Wilson was reported missing on April 29 and his body was found in the creek on April 30. His father, Victor Wilson, Sr., expressed his anguish at the tragic loss of his son. Wilson, Sr. shared with The Bush Chicken that his son had been battling psychotic disorders for the past two years.
Investigation and Findings
A 15-person coroner jury conducted an investigation into Wilson’s death and concluded that there was no foul play involved. Binney Neufville, a registered nurse from the Pleebo Health Center, confirmed that Wilson was already deceased when he arrived at the scene. Neufville stated that there were no visible signs of foul play or physical wounds on Wilson’s body.
Detective Jimmy T. Kaydor of the Crimes Services Department led the police team in examining the body. He reiterated that there was no evidence of foul play and determined that Wilson’s cause of death was drowning. Detective Kaydor described the scene, noting that Wilson was found wearing a pair of short jeans trousers with no shirt, and all body parts were intact.
Community Response and Investigation
The tragic incident has sparked concern among community members, leading the Liberia National Police to launch a thorough investigation into Wilson’s death. Augustine B. Freeman, the youth chair of Pleebo, expressed deep sadness over the loss of a young member of the community.
As the investigation continues, authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the circumstances surrounding Wilson’s death to come forward and assist in the ongoing inquiry.
