Accident – Death – Obituary News : In a shocking turn of events, the Lucknow police have cracked a murder case that had remained unsolved for three long months. The breakthrough came with the arrest of a 13-year-old girl and her 19-year-old boyfriend, who stand accused of killing the girl’s landlord, Shyam Chandra Gupta, aged 56. The motive behind the brutal murder was the prolonged harassment that the young girl had been enduring at the hands of the victim in the Wazirganj area of Lucknow.
The body of Shyam Chandra Gupta was discovered in a drain in the River Bank Colony in the Wazirganj area on March 3. The deceased’s son, Ankur Gupta, had filed a missing person report, prompting the police to launch an investigation into the case.
“The accused have been identified as Bunty Kashyap and his minor girlfriend. They will be presented before the court, and a case of murder under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) 302 has been registered in this matter,” stated ADCP West Zone, Vishwajeet Srivastava.
The DCP confirmed that the police have recovered the weapon used in the killing. The case was cracked by a team comprising ACP Chowk, Raj Kumar, SHO Chowk, Dinesh Mishra, and the crime branch.
It was revealed by the police that Shyam Chandra Gupta had been preying on the minor girl and subjecting her to sexual harassment, as he was a frequent visitor to her room. “Frustrated with his actions, the minor confided in her boyfriend Bunty, and together they decided to eliminate him. The young girl slit his throat, and then the body was wrapped in a bedsheet cover and dumped into the drain behind the house,” disclosed the ADCP.
