Olney High School has shared a poignant tribute to teacher Ondria Glaze on their social media platforms, accompanied by a link to a fundraiser set up in her honour.

LONDON – Tragedy struck in the streets of Philadelphia as two individuals were discovered deceased on Monday afternoon in what authorities believe to be a tragic murder-suicide in the Grays Ferry neighbourhood.

Law enforcement received a distress call on May 6, prompting them to rush to a residence on the 1300 block of South 30th Street shortly after 1:14 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers found two individuals with gunshot wounds inside the property.

One of the victims, identified as 36-year-old Ondria Glaze, had sustained a single gunshot wound to her right cheek.

The second victim was confirmed to be 42-year-old Richard Harper, who was discovered with a single gunshot wound to his head, which authorities believe was self-inflicted.

A firearm was recovered next to Harper’s body.

Both individuals were pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

The devastating news of Ondria Glaze’s passing was shared by Olney High School, where she was a beloved teacher, school leader, and Special Education Compliance Monitor, in a heartfelt Instagram post.

In memory of Ms. Glaze, Olney High School has initiated a GoFundMe campaign to establish the “Ondria Glaze Olney Love Scholarship.”

The donations received through the GoFundMe page will be placed in a trust and used to award a scholarship to a graduating senior each year, enabling them to pursue their aspirations and carry forward the positive impact that Ms. Glaze had on everyone.

Jerry T. Jordan, President of the Philadelphia Federation of Teachers, issued a statement expressing deep sorrow over the loss of Ondria Glaze, describing her as an exceptional special education teacher and SPECM at Olney High School.

A candlelight vigil to honour the memory of Ms. Glaze is scheduled for Monday, May 13 at Olney High School.

Homicide detectives are currently conducting an investigation into the tragic incident.
