Accident – Death – Obituary News :

Authorities in Cobb County, Georgia, made a startling discovery when they found stolen mail inside a stolen vehicle. The woman associated with the car has ties to the U.S. Postal Service.

Police officers came across the stolen vehicle in a parking lot on Spring Road. Shortly after, they observed a 39-year-old woman, identified as Ebony Williams, entering the vehicle.

“The vehicle in question was a rental car reported stolen by the rental company, as the renter deliberately failed to return it,” explained Cobb County Police Sgt. Eric Smith.

Upon inspecting the car, officers found scattered letters addressed to various individuals and businesses, none of which were intended for Williams. Nevertheless, she was connected to the contents.

Court records revealed that Williams “confessed to being a former mail carrier at the U.S. Postal Service, where she allegedly took mail meant for delivery, including checks that she used for personal gain,” according to Sgt. Smith.

Authorities stressed that this crime has victims, as many individuals never received the checks that were rightfully theirs.

Sgt. Smith commended the efforts of the officers involved in locating the stolen vehicle and apprehending the suspect, noting that Williams may be linked to other criminal activities.

Williams has been taken into custody at the Cobb County Jail on charges of theft and forgery. Given the involvement of stolen mail, inspectors from the USPS are assisting in the investigation.
