Accident – Death – Obituary News :

A man from Texas has been found guilty of murdering his wife, who had expressed her desire to get a divorce just one day after their wedding ceremony. Tareq Alkayyali, aged 39, was handed a 23-year prison sentence for the crime, which took place during his wife’s visit to the United States in 2019.

Details of the Case

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported that Alkayyali was convicted of killing his wife, identified as Wasam Moussa, following her request for a divorce immediately after their wedding in 2018. The Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office revealed that an autopsy confirmed the cause of death as asphyxiation.

Prior to their marriage in their native Jordan, Moussa had reservations about tying the knot with Alkayyali. However, her decision to seek a divorce the day after the wedding marked the beginning of a tumultuous relationship between the couple.

After returning to her family home, Moussa resumed her work in Arlington, Texas, while Alkayyali engaged in an extramarital affair with a colleague during their time apart. The situation escalated when Moussa visited the U.S. in May 2019, leading to heated arguments and physical altercations over their impending divorce.

Tragic Turn of Events

According to reports, Moussa confided in her brother about an incident where Alkayyali had tried to silence her by covering her mouth during one of their arguments. The night before Moussa’s untimely death, Alkayyali was found to have searched online for ways to have his wife deported.

In a tragic turn of events earlier this month, Moussa was discovered unresponsive in their Texas apartment. Alkayyali was apprehended by the authorities outside the residence, leading to his subsequent arrest in connection with the crime.

Moussa’s brother, Ahmad Ali, revealed in a statement back in 2019 that his sister had travelled to the U.S. with the intention of giving her husband an opportunity to provide for their family. However, he also expressed Moussa’s fear of Alkayyali, indicating a troubled relationship marred by domestic violence.

This harrowing case serves as a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of domestic disputes and the importance of seeking help in situations of abuse and violence.
