A man has been taken into custody after being accused of attempting to sexually assault an 81-year-old woman suffering from Alzheimer’s disease in California, authorities have confirmed.
Identified as Walker Gabriel Munoz, the 22-year-old suspect allegedly knocked on the door of the woman’s apartment in Pacoima on April 29. The elderly woman, who has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, reportedly allowed Munoz to enter her home.
Once inside, Munoz physically attacked the woman and made an attempt to sexually assault her, according to a news release from the Los Angeles Police Department. The assault was captured on a home surveillance camera, providing crucial evidence for the investigation.
Following the incident, the victim was promptly taken to a local hospital for a comprehensive evaluation to determine the extent of the sexual assault she had endured, the police added.
On May 3, Walker Gabriel Munoz was apprehended by law enforcement officers and subsequently booked into the Metropolitan Detention Center on charges of kidnapping with intent to commit rape, as stated by the police department.
