On Tuesday, a Fond du Lac man, identified as 31-year-old Robert Hall, is set to appear in court following his arrest on Monday for allegedly abusing a child. The incident, which took place on the 600-block of E. Scott St., resulted in a swift response from law enforcement, including a SWAT team.
Hall is facing charges of child abuse intentionally causing harm, as well as five counts of bail jumping related to previous felony and misdemeanor charges. According to the criminal complaint, police were called to the residence after a 911 call was made and then disconnected and redialed.
Upon arrival, officers found an 11-year-old boy outside the home, visibly injured and dressed only in shorts and a blanket. Accompanying the child were a woman, identified as Hall’s ex-partner, and another girl. The boy recounted to authorities that Hall had bitten him on the shoulder, struck him multiple times, and threatened him with further violence if he did not put the younger children to bed. The child also reported that Hall had brandished a knife and was under the influence of alcohol during the incident.
Following the initial encounter, police attempted to engage with Hall inside the residence, but he allegedly made threatening remarks from behind a closed door. Subsequently, a multi-agency response was initiated, involving a SWAT team and a crisis negotiation team.
During the operation, law enforcement officers discovered the knife mentioned by the victim and noted a strong smell of marijuana within the property. Court records indicate that Hall was previously charged with offences including false imprisonment using a dangerous weapon, battery, disorderly conduct with a dangerous weapon, and carrying a concealed weapon. A plea and sentencing hearing for these charges is scheduled for August.
