A tragedy struck the quiet neighbourhood of Aiken, South Carolina on Monday when a body was discovered inside a shed. Authorities have launched a search for the killer of the victim, identified as 22-year-old Aiken resident Jalen Jones.
Discovery of the Body
At approximately 11:10 a.m., officers from the Aiken Department of Public Safety responded to a reported shooting in the 300 block of Greenwich Drive, in the vicinity of Silver Bluff Road and Whiskey Road. Upon arrival, officers made a grim discovery – the lifeless body of Jalen Jones inside a backyard shed.
According to Aiken County Coroner Darryl Ables, Jones had been fatally shot multiple times and succumbed to his injuries at the scene. No other injuries were reported in connection to the incident.
Investigation and Call for Information
As the investigation into Jones’ death unfolds, authorities are appealing to the public for any information that may help in identifying the perpetrator or shedding light on the motive behind the shooting. The Aiken Department of Public Safety and the coroner’s office are working diligently to bring justice to the victim and his family.
An autopsy has been scheduled for Thursday in Newberry to further investigate the cause of Jones’ death. Despite efforts, no arrests have been made in connection to the case.
